Count Your Blessings by Cathie Dexter, Missions Director
To some people, one day of sickness means one day without food for their family. And with the rising cost of everything, sometimes one tank of gas means one week less of groceries. There are many people in our community who face these issues daily. We see them weekly in our food bank. These aren't the drug abusers. They're men and women trying to make it through another week. These aren't the people looking for an easy way out. They are parents trying to fill their children’s stomach as best as they can. Circumstance and hard times fall on all of us at one time or another and in one way or another. It rains on the just and the unjust.
The members of Bayside Baptist Church committed to sponsoring the Bayside Food Bank almost 10 years ago. Since the inception, we have seen the need to minister in this community grow immensely! But it takes all of us working together to continue this ministry. Please help follow through with the commitment of the church and remember to donate a variety of food. Pick up an extra food item when you go grocery shopping for the Food Bank.
Our greatest weekly need includes: breakfast foods, spaghetti, sauce, and canned meat, side dishes such as, dry rice, dry beans and/or cash donations/grocery cards for fresh produce.
There are many from the community who appreciate your generosity! Thanks for giving a helping hand.

Focus on Stewardship by the Stewardship Committee
The focus of stewardship education has been on the gift. The focus should be toward the giver, the church member. The problems with the way most Christians manage money are not financial matters, but matters of the heart. Since God can look into our hearts, what does He see in relation to finances? Where do you rank money matters? Personal debt is at an all time high, with the majority wanting and trying to obtain things that money pledges, everything from security to happiness. Your choice to adopt Christian values and character will not bulletproof you against the world’s attractions, but it will empower you to stop them before they put their roots down in your life. The First priority is to put God and His work first in your life. It is a decision at the deepest level of our hearts.
Your Stewardship Committee reminds you what Jesus teaches us about stewardship in Matthew 6:19—21: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Thanks for your stewardship faithfulness as you give and serve Him at Bayside Baptist Church. Malcolm Funn, Chair; Rosemary Phelps, Jim Howard, Jon Adams, Shaelyn Emery, Donnie Love, Bob Mowchan and Pastor Dan.
