Wednesday Nights:
(260 Alive)
On Wednesday, January 7,
2009 our youth started their new Discipleship
program – 260 Alive. The number 260 comes from Route 260 that goes right by
Bayside Baptist Church. We want our students and our church to be ALIVE for
CHRIST!! Our main scripture theme will be based on the following scriptures:
(You will notice that all scripture begins with the 2:6 chapter and verses.
This is for 260!!!
Proverbs 2:6: “For
the Lord gives wisdom, and from HIS mouth come
knowledge and understanding”.
Our focus for the Bayside Baptist
Student Ministry is on teaching God’s Word. We believe that the Bible is
without error and contains the answers to the many questions of life. We
believe that God gives us the wisdom and knowledge to understand his word. We
want our students to read, memorize, understand and apply God’s word in their
own lives. We believe that students should KNOW Christ in a personal way, OWN
their faith and make HIM KNOWN to a lost world.
Colossians 2:6:
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in
HIM”.
At Bayside Baptist we believe that once
you become a child of God, you should continue to always live in him. We
believe that becoming a Child of God is the first step of a lifelong commitment
to Christ. We want to Disciple and nurture our students and prepare them for a
world that is full of darkness so that they can stand firm against the evil
one. As scripture tells us, a new born Christian is just like a baby. We need
to provide the food (The Bible) and support that they need to show the world
that Christ truly lives in them.
1 John 2:6: “Whoever
claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”
The Bayside Baptist Student Ministry is
dedicated to helping students walk as Jesus did. Jesus came to earth and became
a man. He faced the same trials and temptations that we face. He overcame those
temptations and went to the cross for sinners like us. Because of that
sacrifice and because he is alive today, we can have eternal life. Jesus was
committed to helping the sinners come to know him. We want to reach out to our
community, to our state, to our country and to our world. Jesus ministered to
those who were sick, those who were hungry, those who were in prison and those
who sought him.
The 260 Theme:
Teaching Gods Word - Discipling the Believers – Living out God’s Word by walking
the walk.

Core Programs: Sunday School (Connections):
Sunday mornings are an exciting time here at Bayside
Baptist Church. Currently, our teens are meeting in the trailer annex and are
challenged each week with exciting, relevant topics from God’s word. It is
great to see our regular attending youth come for Bible Study each week! Thank
you for your faithfulness! If you have not attended Sunday youth group for a
while, we invite you to come back and renew your passion for studying the Bible
and learning how you can reach the lost for Christ. Sunday Connections is 9:00
AM – 10:15 AM each week. Worship begins at 10:30 AM.
We are excited about our Sunday
morning youth group classes. In December, we created a new class for our teens.

Wednesday Night Discipleship (260
Alive)
Our Wednesday Youth Discipleship program is going
GREAT. We praise God for the wonderful attendance and the dedication and
commitment of our youth teachers and students in making this a successful night
of learning about Christ. Our attendance has been great as we challenge our
youth to reach out to their friends and to bring them to God’s House each week.
Please continue to pray for our youth and leaders as we seek to glorify Christ
in and around our church. The two classes being offered are:
7th and 8th Grade: Fuel: Taught by Glenn
Swanson and Gary Swanson
9th – 12th Grade:
66: Taught by Tim Dexter and Joe Herche
Note: Shannon Emery and Sherri
Swanson are substitutes Also, our student ministry choir has great attendance
each week. They have all been working hard with Ms. Sherri to prepare them to
serve on Sunday mornings. We are currently working on establishing the youth
praise team.
EC’s are here:
Starting in December, all regular attending youth
began receiving a copy of the monthly youth magazine (EC – Essential
Connection). This will help YOU get ready for our new 260 Challenge.
This is a great magazine designed for teenagers that will help you with a daily
Bible/Prayer (power up) time. It also has relevant articles regarding today’s
current issues and will be a resource that you will not want to miss!
Recap of Events:
Special

all!

“transition” to our new Wednesday Night Schedule by going Ice Skating at the
Sculpture Gardens on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Over 40 youth and
leaders attended this wonderful event and we brought everyone home without a
break or sprain. ☺
Youth Choir and Church Christmas
Caroling:
On December 10th our
youth participated in their first choir party and event and then came out on
the December 17th
to participate in
our annual Church Christmas Caroling Night. We had several youth join us as we
were able to minister to some of the members in our church and community. On
December 21st, we were also blessed to have
the youth participate in our Church Christmas Program along with the Children
and Adult Choirs.

On Saturday morning, January 17th, approximately 40 youth, friends
and leaders from Bayside adventured out on the COLDEST day of the year for a great
Ski Outing. Mrs. Vicki Love helped coordinate this fantastic event that was
enjoyed by all. We had several youth (and the youth pastor) opt out of the ski
portion, and instead took up tubing. ☺ After
a long ride home (The bus had a nice flat tire) we all arrived back at church
safe and sound – but cold!
